Posada Churum Merú

Posada Meru Churum is located in the residential area of Campo B in Puerto Ordaz. This area was conceptualized as a housing plan for high-level employees of the company in charge of the iron ore extraction Orinoco Mining Company, back in Puerto Ordaz foundation nowadays known as CVG Ferrominera Orinoco. These houses had large lots and spacious gardens which subsequently served as basis for building an upscale Posada.

 

Posada Churum Meru begins its operation in mid-2011, in order to offer a new option of accommodation to tourists, families, business men and executives, looking for an alternative of those already offered in the area and cheaper than the big hotel chains within the city but offering the same comfort to feel as home.

 

Run by its owners and a group of dedicated workers with experience in the hospitality industry, it seeks to provide its guests with the best service, that combined with its facilities and location will sure make them enjoy the stay.

 

The name Churum Meru comes from the search of a name in the indigenous language that reprepresented the Guayana region from tepuis and waterfalls to rivers of the Bolivar State. Churum Meru is a waterfall drop of 400 meters located in the Canaima National Park, at the end of Auyantepui with water coming from the Kerepakupai-merú or Angel Falls. The meaning of the name is Waterfall (Meru) of the river Churum, which originated the confusion of the first explorers with the name Angel Falls, as they called Churúm-merú to all emerging waterfalls from the Auyantepui.

 

Our logo is based on one of the petroglyphs found in the wildlife recovery prior to flooding the canyon Nekuima given the construction of the Guri hydroelectric plant.
